Don't Give Up on Us!! We won't give up on You!

Its something we have heard in our lives, hopefully you have heard it more than once.  As you read yesterday, I was a bit let down from our appointment yesterday at the Shriner Hospital.  It was not because of the establishment or the people in any way.  It was my own personal hope for a miracle!

Today, my sponsoring Shriner called me to see how the appointment went, to make sure we had a fabulous experience.  I could only tell him good things about the hotel that they paid for us to stay in and how pleasant they were when we arrived.  Thomas befriended the switchboard operator, Ms. Donna, and got a brand new fire truck with building blocks to go with it.  We had fabulous nurses and the doctor was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable.  They all were very sweet and attentive and fell in love with Thomas.  Other patients and parents were smiling and pleasant, overall it was a great place to be.  Shriners have worked very hard to raise funds for their hospitals, they are proud and take it very seriously.

Our Shriner has been with us through every step and has our back   His words to us "Don't give up on us, we won't give up on you!  Now that you have been to our hospital and have been evaluated, you can depend on us to provide Thomas with his monitoring care if you choose.  We, the Shriners, can provide the annual MRI and X-Rays if you wish.  We can provide surgeries as needed with the latest technology, if you wish.  The best part is this is no costs to you at all."  That is Amazing!! What a blessing!

The doctor had even said that we could come back as needed.  It is our choice to continue with our current Orthopedic Surgeon or turn the case over with the Shriners.  I did feel better after talking to my Shriner and knowing that even though they saw nothing to be done at this time, the door is wide open for us.  The door will not close until Thomas turns the age of 18.  They were under the impression that I was just seeking a second opinion, which they happily provided me.  If for financial reasons, I would like to trust Thomas' care to the Shriners it is completely up to me.

If you do pass a Shriner and he is collecting donations, please consider giving.  It is only through donations that these hospitals are in service and operating.  Its an amazing philanthropy to support.  We have one sponsoring Shriner, but I have been approached by about three others with their support and information if I ever need them as well.
